Mission Scripture

Wherefore, be of good cheer, and do not fear, for I the Lord am with you, and will stand by you; and ye shall bear record of me, even Jesus Christ, that I am the Son of the living God, that I was, that I am, and that I am to come.

At dinner picnic with Sister Pirotta and Sister Denson.

Friends in Miami Lake, FL.

First Week in Boca Raton

hellloo everyone how are you? as you know i am now in boca raton west in a trio, its pretty fun. sad to leave miami lakes but glad to be here! my last night in ML this boy john carlos (george's bro) gave me some sweet new kicks. i cant wait to send pics. i have so much stuff... mostly a million clothes.. and filled the whole truck with my stuff. oops. ha. at the end of transfer meeting elder stewart (an AP) we all kneeled in circle around the chapel and he gave a MIGHTY prayer for a temple here. we are hoping prayign and did a 24 hour fast yesterday as a mission that on saturday morning they will announce a temple in southern florida. what a blessing it would be for all the people here, and i know so many people would be able to come from cuba and so i ask you to all pray for that mightly this week as well. also out invests john, jose, juile, margo, maree, valerie, chris, nick, glen, and the capaverdes. my address here is
23054 Post Gardens Way #413
Boca Raton, FL 33433
oh i met elder fredrick he was really nice and told me how he knows my family so that was fun. it was sad leaving elder johnson he became such a good friend the past few transfers. we also live with sisters moore and lowe. sister lowe always talks about marci and she remembers everything about our family and everyones names and stuff. she is really cute and a great missionary! i will get a pic with her soon so you can see! i got english name tags from the office and so i wear both eng and spanish now, but i use my spanish a TON in this area. i have met a lot of mexicans and peru. really cool people but also lots of brazil and i dont speak portugese.. supposedly boca is mega rich but its mostly gated so i cant tell . but everyone drives BMW and mercedes! we have like no good progressing investigators and its really hard.. SO opposite the spanish program. dont know how to handle it. we spend 85% of days tracting different ways, but mostly knocking doors and it is not very much fun. so many people are either catholic diehard or jew or athiest. its really sad like people go to extremes to avoid us or reject us, when every latin i met is SO nice. every night sister hale challenged the mission to say one thing we love about our comp(s) and one thing we learned so we do that every night it brings unity and i like it. they said the first night i snored so loud they went in the other room oops.. i sit in the backseat and i always fall asleep in the car. we have a pretty big area and lots of driving. this girl i was her efy counselor last summer andressa, she is in my ward now and she is super super cute. i still always seek out latins so i can use my spanish and the other day i met this lady from el sal and i told her i LOVE pupusas so she said her aunt was making some inside so i went in and i told her i wanted some so well i got us some free dinner but the lady wasnt interested too bad. i have met people from italy lately and france and hati and jamaca, its so cool to meet them. yesterday in sunday school i had to translate for this guy ricardo but i like dont speak spanish that well and it was super hard.. but he felt the spirit and even though he didnt understand it all he liked it and we are going to teach him! being in a trio is fun but hard cause there are so many opinions or not enough and welll it will be an interesting transfer. i will continue teaching spanish if i can get a member in the ward who speaks spanish (there are lots) and take her on an exchange and my other 2 comps will go teach elsewhere. we have a few apts this week and it should be good. i am craving arroz con frijols and all the comida latina... so i am going to learn to cook or something.. ok well i gotta run but hope all is weell for you all. take care and remember to pray for the temple!! have a good week. con amor,

Transfer

well i made a record of staying in an area 2 transfers and i found out last night i will be transferred again. i thought for sure i was staying since hermana van de graaff is leaving but i was wrong, so i packed up again and will get moved tomorrow. i got an email from president saying i will be apart of the "salt and pepper" so i will be with an english companion, in an english area. i am kind of sad because i wont be able to practice spanish very much and we will be in an english ward. of course there will still be latin peeople there cause lots of english wards are full of latins. but it was just really unexpected but i'm sure it will all turn out just fine. i've been saying bye to people all day and i hate goodbyes... some people are so sweet when they give me little things to remember them. it is so sweet cause i know that some of them have so little. we had just cleaned up our home so nice and i was all set to live there for another 6 weeks. this last week of the transfer was hard and long.. hermana VDG got sick so we stayed home 1 1/2 days and i was bored out of my mind.. but when we went out we had a lot of success and met lots of cool new people, that the new missionaries whoever comes in the area will be lucky to teach. i have been reading the book Our Search For Happiness and i absolutely love love it, its nice and short and i think you should all read it. we are trying to leave everything all set for the new people so they will know what appointments i had set and all their meals and the investigators and what lessons they are on and everything, but i'm sure some will fall through the cracks somewhere and that makes me so sad. i love the people we were working with and i hope they all continue on the path of righteousness and progress towards baptism. everything is going to be so much differenent now but i know i am going where the Lord wants to me be. Hope all is well for each of you, that you are all happy and know how much I love you.

Friends in the Ward

How We Keep Track of our Investigators

Hey There!

hey there everybody.. how are you doing? i am so excited i have a lot more time left than usual to write today..thanks to everyone who sent the shorter emails :) i LOVE getting emails and hearing from you all but remember i only have one hour ! thanks lovies! well we spent the morning moving and when we asked the elders to clean their apartment before we moved in, they certainly had a different idea of the word clean... so we moved and CLEANED this morning. oh also they said they were "packed" however they didnt put 1 thing in suitcases. oh boyy it was kind of funny kind of annoying. oh i saw this costco catalog of PJs i want to get owen for christmas so the number is 61032 they have moose on them and moose slippers can you tell me how much they cost. haha i love those. ok mom those ladies that will be staying at our house LLOOOVVEE you already. ok ok i'll get to that. Dad-i will be sending with them the name and info for a man in my ward who is looking for work in utah. he is cool..tri lingual.. if you can shoot him an email and let him know of anything. thanks for helping out with all the people. ok mom i need my gps cord and a new journal. if you could send those within the next week or so that would be super! last p-day we learned how to make SWWEET tye dye shirts it reminded me of seabrook haha. ok so sad news they wont be getting 2 more elders in miami lakes until the following transfer (nov). so just me and my comp and elder johnson and his comp here next transfer. we went to seminary once this week..its every day at the church from 6-7am. ugh. so early. i was surprised how many kids were there and awake and 6 am! the teacher is awesome though.ok so ana is being a bum..we will probably drop her.. she just never remembers anything we teach her. but we found in our hotspot lots of cool new investigators this week!! really cool! we had to get our oil changed at pep boys the other day and since it takes like 3 hours sister hogge (you know my fave senior missionary employment) took us to costco and she bought me a new big box of easy mac..ah i love her. so we worked our bums off with marianela and lazaro this past week, making sure they were stopping drinking coffee and going over interview questions and preparing for the baptism but they texted us sat saying they couldn't do the interview that night anymore but they would come to church early sunday morning to do it. welll turns out they never showed up to church and we dont know why :( so it was really sad. we have this cute recent convert rosario who is in loove with elder lybertt mom well this week we were teaching her about the temple cause she is going to recieve her endowment on the 19th. we had a relief society activity on satuday and it was soo fun. i got to go with one sweet sister from guatamala and we visited some less actives in the ward. well good thing she spoke some english and i speak some spanish so we could communicate.. haha.. i love love her. ok one day this week we went to teach lazaro he was listening to backstreet boys millenuim.. he speaks ZERO english haha it was soo funny. YESTERDAY I MET DAVID ARCHULETA'S AUNT. she was in the english ward and everyone knows i' m david's future wife so they came and got me to meet her. she was really cute we talked for awhile and i got her email.. she lives in atlanta but was here visiting. ok mom and dad warning: latins give those cheek kisses so be ready for those- yes even you dad. and only one lady speaks eng the other speaks only latin. i only know the spanish lady, i just met the eng one for the first time yesterday. i dont know their names.. but they are so nice and i promise you will love them. i told them not to make any messes in the kitchen. ok so i know the english lady is going to be looking for an apartment but i dont know how long they will want to stay at our house. i think the longest is until conference. i want my spanish lady to cook for you while they are there. so let her if she wants to. they seriously came runnning up to me yesterday at church and gave me the biggest hugs nad kisses and were SO happy!! i'm glad you are so willing in helping me and my friends :) THANKS! i am sure elders baggley and robinson would love to come over and visit while they are there. tell them it is hermano venegas' mom. we all LOVE hermano venagas. i'm sure they will know him. ok well i love love love you all muchismo...have a good week! thanks again for all your help!! xoxoxoxoxo

Margaritas baptism on Labor Day.

Tuesday, September 8, 2009

hey guys how are you all doing? i sent a pic to mom of the baptism we had yesterday of our baptism, my sweet friend Margarita. She used to live with a member family so it was a special day for them and for us. She is what we would call a GOLDEN investigator cause she had already been to church multiple times when we started teaching her and she drank everything up that we taught her and willingly commited to live all the commandments. my favorite food now is arroz con coco... so so good.. i am going ot learn to make it for you all one day! also i have such better taste buds like i can eat fish now without gagging..i went to lunch at Pei Wei this week it made me think of Mom and dad cause i know you guys love that place.. ana did not get baptized, she wasnt quite ready. we went to her house last week and elder johnson was gonna do her interview but we get there and she says she isn't ready for that responsibility yet, so we said ok and like 5 minutes later she asked when the next baptism was. well it was pretty weird so elder johnson did her interview and she just doesnt have her own testimony yet so we are going to keep trying, and hopefdully she'll be ready in a few weeks. Mr Bear says hi and i want to say that i miss my baby blanky and i hope you are keeping it safe. so we had PPI this week and well President Hale is giving us all LaCoste shirts (i think they are for Christmas) and so we got to pick the size and color.. sweet... FYI these are like 75 shirts that the whole mission gets one. haha. also we have good news we are getting more elders here next transfer so there will be 2 sets of elders and me and my comp next transfer. BUT now the elders need the bigger new apt so we are switching them and next mon i am moving in the crappy small one. but its only like 2 blocks from mine. my new address will be:
17660 NW 67 Ave #1614
Miami, FL 33015
so if you still sent something to the one i live in now its ok cause its close. all the elders will be on bike so we had to split the area. i'll stay in car and we will have the largest furthest area. i am happy and healthy! lazaro found work so that is good but bad cause now he has to work on sundays. but marianela should be getting baptized on sunday!! are you guys updating my facebook? we found out yesterday that a girl we gave a chapel tour during the car wash said she'll be baptized! she lives in hollywood and is taught by the english missinoaries there. well i love you all and i am so happy to be here experiencing miracles daily... i feel like i hardly deservce all the blessings i recieve..each of you are one of those blessings. take care. talk to you soon!!! love you.
