Mission Scripture

Wherefore, be of good cheer, and do not fear, for I the Lord am with you, and will stand by you; and ye shall bear record of me, even Jesus Christ, that I am the Son of the living God, that I was, that I am, and that I am to come.

Merry Almost Christmas

merry almost christmas hows everyone? my hands are freezing in this library they've got the AC up so sorry for the typos. first will you pray for norma and latrice. next, i sent one package home for christmas. its not wrapped. i sent it last thursday. however.... i was talking to the lady at the post office about the Gospel and forgot to get delivery conformation so i'm really really hoping you get it. it is kind of goofy but oh well./ also i sent a package to taylor-which isnt wrapped so dont open til christmas-but i sent it to his martin address. dangit. so i hope you'll all get your things on time. next i have something to tell Nin. she sent me a cute bracelet and earrings for my b-day and well i cant lie cause i'm a missionary....sooo i need to confess. sarah zepeda's fam gave me this cute jewlrey from mexico for my brithday and i needed a chain for the necklace charm thing. we were at the mall and decided to exchange the bracelet for this necklace (please dont be mad and knwo i lvoed it but couldn't afford the chain otherwise!) so this girl did the exchange but it was $4 cheaper than the bracelet so Nin, thats why they put $4 back on your visa. i'm sorry i did that. pelase dont be mad. i love the earrings and already wore them. sister olsen and i moved into an elders apartment cuase we are whitewashing the elders area and it it dirty gross but we cleaned it and we have this weird machine its a washer and dryer in one. and we ahve a bajillion cockroaches. this is my new address
8200 SW 210th Street #313
Cutler Bay, FL 33189-3469
hopefully i'll stay here longer than 1 transfer. the ward was stoked to get sisters. they haven't had them in years. we aer the south-est sisters in the mission now, the keys are in my zone. i got a check from grandpa norr for my b-day, how should i cash that? should i sign it and send it home and you can deposit it in my account or what? it was sad saying bye to boynton, that was such a good ward and i loved the people. but my new ward homestead seems pretty good so far. i had a good good birthday thanks for all the cards (like one day i got 20) and presents and i am keeping my pinotta for my quensinra..i loved it and had fun thank yoU! i love all my christmas stuff it is so cute especially my tree. theere is this lady in my ward sister baker she made us beanies already and she ;lived on a sailboat in the keys for 14 eyars, dad she is obessed with sailboats and i want her to call you. she is super cool. we love her. but she's soo poor we cant turn on lights at her house or use ac or anything,. also there is the boix family who i love already. we are going to their house churstmas morning. it rained so much this weekend but no flooding. glad we had car so i didnt have to ride my bike. i sang in the mission choir and we had a really good christmas mission confrence, i wish i had more time to tell you all about it but anyways brad wilcox spoke, he was Pres Hale's mission companion. oh heads up for christmas, taylors voice is SOOO deep and he sounds just like dad.ok well look forward mucho to friday. take care.. pics will come next week, sorry no time to send any now. love you love you!!!

Me holding over $1,000 in change. Seriously.

Me and Chelsea P...my little sister I never had.

Hey!

Hey Fam! How are you guys? thanks for all the little notes and messages. i got an email today from President Hale saying there will be changes in Boynton so to be sure you guys were sending stuff to mission office not apartment. sooo i think that means i will be getting transferred on my birthday next week. so if you know it will get to me before then send it to me at the apartment, otherwise send it to the office and i'll get it after transfer meeting. or if you send it to the apartment and i leave before it gets there, i will see everyone next saturday at mission conference. so anyways sorry you dont even have to send me anything but if you want, thats how it should be done. will you pray for greg, leslie, chris, robert, and clair? mom will you add my facebook requests please haha. we have an elder from my boyton ward entering the mtc the 16 and i am giving him your number parents in case he has any problems ok? my shoulder has been feeling a little better and i will not be going to a doc while in florida, so if it still hurts when i get home we'll take it from there. on monday we went to this appointment i had set up with a lady i found in the dropped files, her name is clair from jamacia. well we get there and the elders car was there. turns out they were teaching clair's granddaughter and had an appiontment at the same time. def not coinsidence. glad you got the package M and D- sorry didnt have more to send. tay, did you get both Books of Mormon? Its been about 80 all week here and i'm loving it but at the same time missing snow...we got to help sarah's family put up their christmas stuff cause she lives with her mom and mom fell down the stairs and broke both legs so we have been doing lots of service there. we took egg nog and apparently latins dont drink it cause all 4 kids that were there had never tried it and thought it was weird hahah. we met these guys from turkey they are twins actually and are so excited for us to teach them so i am really excited this week for that. even though i cant even pronounce their names. i was so sad i missed camille 's baptism will you please tell her how happy i am for her? wish i couldve been there. oh i got this tape from steven and i cant stop listening to the part where owen talks.. OWEN TALKS?! who knew. i had no idea. he says i love you.. thats my new favorite thing is to listen to.. can you check our the website pres sent me about the free conf call? i gotta get going but i love you all so so much and cant wait to talk to you SOON! xoxoxoxox

I LOVE THAT BOOK! thank you thank you mom and helpers! that was so special and i think i've showed it to half of boynton beach. the dentist was ok, i had no caviies and they made me take x rays even though i didnt want to. thanks for letting me go. ok so for christmas i think it'd be fun to all be able to talk like even me and tay together soo pres hale knows this number you call and make a conference line and its free. so we all just call this number and we can all talk its like a chat room but on the phone ya know? soo what do yall think. my PPI was really good, it was scary having President in the house but it went really well actually and he is such a wonderful mission president i cant even express how much i love him! he is called of God no doubt. he said i'll be staying here with sis olson prob next transfer. he also said he isnt even sure if he'll be here for the temple groundbreaking. sad huh. so we are praying temple work will go quick! i would LOVE to be here for the groundbreaking. i had kind of a hard week and lots of strange things happened..i know you want to know all but i can't really tell you all... i do want to say i am SO grateful to be raised in a home of loving parents and that my father holds the Preisthood. i heard all about the BYU-UT game, i was at a bonfire when it was on and all these memebrs were inside watching it online. it was 58 the other day brrr i almost froze.. my shouilder isnt better in 1 week i'll go to a doc. our homeless investigator robert showed up yesterday at church after not seeing him in 1 week! yay.. also we are teaching greg and leslie and chris. please pray for chris greg leslie robert shanika and nachovia. i hope for them all to be baptized in december because we are trying to have a white christmas :)

Subject: Sister Call is doing well...

President Current, President Angelos, and President Matute -

Karen and I visited Sister Call and Sister Olsen last night at Bethesda Memorial Hospital. Both were in good spirits and both remained very cheerful about the experience. Sister Papenfuss and her daughter stayed with the sisters until Sister Call was released around 12:30a. Nothing troubling was found with the CAT Scan, which is standard procedure when trauma to the head is suspected. She has a few minor cuts that were cleaned last night. She did not appear to be in any pain, but I’m sure she’ll be a little sore today.

I believe the details of the accident went something like this: Sister Call followed her companion through an intersection (both were on bike with the required head- and tail-lights) and, from what I understand, a car rolled through the intersection striking Sister Call. She was thrown from her bike and landed unconscious. She doesn’t really remember anything immediately before or after the accident. What she does remember is seeing Brother Clint Papenfuss and his teenage daughter Chelsea rushing to her at the scene.

Apparently, Brother Papenfuss was on an errand and had decided to bring along his daughter. They had just stopped for ice cream and were on their way when he saw the scene. Several cars were stopped and many people were crowded around when he felt suddenly that he needed to stop and give assistance. He rushed to the victim’s side and began providing aid when he suddenly realized that he recognized these young ladies. It was a miracle because Sister Olsen, who was still shaken, was struggling with what the right procedures were: who should she call, would it be okay to use an ambulance due to expense, etc. Ultimately, Sister Call was rushed to Bethesda in an ambulance.

One of the lighter moments had to do with Sister Call’s first words to Chelsea when she arrived at the scene, “Can I have a lick of your Ice Cream?”

Sincerely,

Bishop McClintock

A Million Things

holy cow i have a million things i want to say and not much time so excuse the typos. i will be sad to miss tahnksgiving with you all. especially sad with none of mom's rolls :(. its so weird no snow here or rain lately and its still in the 80s but i know you guys have snow brrr. my comp and sis pirotta are both sick but i am keeping my immune system up and invincibile so i am healthy. i am mostly better from the accident but my upper left shoulder still hurtrs quite a bit. i think i'll wait another week before i haeve it checked out. might just be bruised muscle. in advance, dont send me any christmas house decor please, we already have enough! pres is coming to our apartments for PPIs and mine is tomorrow. i also have a dentist appontment tomorrow- how should i pay?? mom can you call sister papenfuss and tell her? wait no i think i'm gonna be with sarah tonight so i'll have her call you when i'm near her :) elder dalling is my helper with all the accident stuff and is being a great help. but landon, i hear your in texas so maybe you can stop here on your way home and come be my lawyer if we decide to sue? i tried on this pair of true religions the other day at plato's closet that cost $18. i mention this in the family email because many of you know i paid much more than that for mine at home. chelsea papenfuss has been giving me lots of her old clothes.. so once again, as a reminder, please no clthes for bday or christmas! thanks! dad i heard you called the office and asked if you should get a second job to pay for my bills.. haha funny but sad. i hope with both insurances we'll be ok. i had to do the missionary purpose on tuesday at zone conf in front of lots of missionaries. i was nervous but did really good...until walking off stage i tripped on a hymn book and started laughing a little too loud (it was really reverent in there. leave it to me to destroy that..) man you guys would've laughed too. i want to tell you aout some peopel we are teaching but i dont have time so i will make a tape asap and send it within the next few weeks. i am challegngig you all to do something i started doing recently and that is to once a day only say a gratitude prayer and things you are thankful for and dont ask for anything. will you all do that? we live close to this bike america store and this boy zack always helps me with my bike, so we went in my 1st time riding after the crash and he fixed the handlebars that were a little bent and everything all for free.. man he's soo nice. so my nike is like brand new and i'm happy. any advice on what to say to athiests? president hale calls me and sister olson B4.. (boynton beach biker babes) hahaha. i have 63 different florida licese plates isnt that cool! nin thanks for the package! i am dying about this new mooon thing, i've heard its really good and i'm jealous you all get to go! the papenfuss' kids are here for thanksgiving and they have kids from washington like alkeli or something.. do you know where th=at is? mom sister p emailed you a week ago but you never wrote back.. did you get it? ah man they have this 20 month old boy i played with last night he is JUST like owen.. man i miss you guys... will you pray for robert, que, jessica, nachovia, shanika, leslie greg, and chris? thanks!! i love you guys all so so much. happy thanksgiving! tke care!!

I am Alive

hellooo!! here i am! i am alive! dont even worry guys, i'm totally doing better from my bike/car collision last thursday night. it was a pretty strange experience. since i'm assuming you mostly know all the details i won't take too much time retelling them. i will just go about my usual weekly email k! last week sister olsen gave me a tennis lesson and i decided it's a lot easier on the wii but it is some good exercise so we want to play a lot this transfer. all the elders have named their bikes and i decided mine needs a name.. but i have not come up with one yet so any ideas would be great. i love being in the palm beach zone. they always have the most success in the mission in this zone but its hard cause we never see each other! (cause we dont do p day activities anymore) so its weird i'm like finally where i wanted to be but i dont even know who is in my zone. oh except elder fredrick. he is. we have been going to these neighborhoods in the daytime where i am the minority.. yikes.. actually we're the ONLY white poeple in the whole 'hood.. i never thought i'd be some place like this! we had to ride in a lot of rainstorms last week but luckily one time when my shirt went a little see through (sorry fellas) we went to the papenfuss' and i got to use thier dryer. man i love them so much. my newest talent of the week... (that i only do while in neigherhoods) is that i can ride my bike with no handlebars... no handlebars.. haha ok but really i can but not for too long cause i get nervous haha. i've been seeing new moon stuff everywhere and its almost going to drive me crazy- are you guys going to it? my helmet has been giving me a little bit of what i call helmet acne ugh gross i know, but i sweat so much with that thing on my head i cant help it cause the straps rub against my skin. i think i mentioned to mom that sister o and i also got hit thursday morning, but it was by the same lady she hit sister o's back tire and my front. it was scary and she was turning right at the stop sign (same as when i got hit that night) anyway she wasnt paying attention and it scratched my bike up a little but i think i scratched her car even more so we didnt worry about it. i guess i was being prepared for something bigger although even that freaked me out. so ya at the hospitol did i say one of my nurses is this asian man in my ward here? he was really nice. like he wheeled me down where i got the CAT scan. also the bishop and his wife came to visit me that night. remember we just got a new bishopbric here? it was the bishop's first hosptiol visit.. there were so many souls taking care of me that night i dont think i can count.. wait for sure i can't count cause i couldn't see at least half of them.. as horrifying as it was, it was a really special experience. Sister O also took good care of me that night and throughout the night and ever since then. at sisters conference it was soo fun and i am so gald i got to go. the speakers the bradley's live in murray. maybe close to archuleta's. ok seriosuly i dont know how to ever repay the Papenfuss' they are so special and dear to me. i love them soo much. i cant wait for you to meet them all some day. heavenly Father gave me a special gift Friday night.. ever since the day i moved to florida i haven't seen one star cause of clouds or lights or whatever. but i looked up fri night and there was a sky full of stars! i wanted to cry! well i wasnt so sore on friday but i woke up mega sore on saturday but got lots of backrubs and i'm borrowing a heating pad so i'm feeling a little better today. i'm not ready to hear the whole story from sister olsen yet of what happened (i dont really remember much of it) but i think later this week i'll have her tell me. whenever people want to hear it i've had to leave the room. i've been told i will soon have lawyers bombaring my mailbox wanting me to sue this guy? i'm not sure what i should do about that so i'll just hang onto them until i figure it out. we get the police report on fri and plan on going to teach this man (i hear it was a young black man in his 20s) . i have gotten so many sweet caring calls and texts from poeple and the guys in the ward who think they're funny nicknamed me crash.. it's an interesting side note to say that i didn't get any marks anywhere my garments were covering me. in fact, the mega bruise above my knee is almost a straight line where my garments covered. anyway i know sister olsen just sent like a long email to her family so maybe you can get some details from taht if you are intereested. remember my good special friend erania vargas in miami lakes who i loved and elder johnson baptized her while i was in boca? her husband got baptized yesterday and although i couldn't be there it was a special day for me cause i loved him and their family a lot. okay i gotta go but i also love you a lot! like a lot a lot! please know i'm doing better and appriciate all your prayers and love and concern. your the bestest family ever!

Meryl and her companion.

Hey

hey guys how's everyone doing? i am now in boynton beach.. we call ourselves the boynton beach biker babes. sister o and i are the only 2 sisters in the mission on bike. we're the trial run and so far so good, execpt that i had a sore bum the first few days. i've learned to much about bikes i never knew before. it's pretty fun. keys on this keyboard keep sticking so i apologize for typos. hey so i can go to the dentist right? what one will work with our insurance? like can you call that 1-800 and ask what dentist is good or soemthing? if you find a good one, call and give the info to the mission office. oh the office called me this morning and asked i keep encouraging friends and family to put my first name on the letters cause there are now 2 sister call's, the other one is 100% deaf. my address here is
2301 South Congress Ave #223
Boynton Beach, FL 33426
thanks. well i was sad to leave miami lakes again but i can't wait to go back one day with all of you.. and maybe if i'm lucky again the next 9 months. transfer day was infredible, i went all over the whole mission from miaimi lakes to hialeah, plantation, mission office, boca raton, west palm, then boynton. we had so much fun and of course felt super cool with our brand new bikes on the back of our car. oh wait. we don't have a car. we got one for the day but we are stuck with just our bikes now. my 9 month was really fun, i took the typical 9 month pictures and got the ccuuttessst package from mom. thank you :) loved it. i can't beleive i'm halfway done already. that freaks me out a little. it's gone by so fast. biking has been a little hard in a skirt but i wear these legging tight things and pull them up to my knees so they dont show. last thurs we got caught in a rainstorm going to a meeting with our bishop and my skirt got caught in the back spoke so my back tire was skidding, i couldt figure out what was wrong til i got off my bike. haven't had that problem anymore and sure glad that's the only time its rained on us. it has been really windy though and strange how the wind always seems to be going against you, even if you turn a corner. i met this guy fitz from st thomas and lots of islanders here.. and lots of haitians.. but its so fun to meet the islanders cause i have been to their home ya know? the other 2 girls we live with are both sleep talkers and we have all 4 beds in the same room right next to each other. kinda fun but not when they dont stop talking all night! saturday we helped bishop's son do his eagle scout project pulling weeds and using machetti's to chop weeds and we got a new bishopbric on sunday here. my whole district is only 6 missionaries, me and sis O and sister gardner (who is 26 haha)and sister p and the 2 creole elders. and we're all in the same ward too. elder edwards translates sacrament meeting. i am sad i missed owen's birthday but looks like it was fun.. we had a crazy time yesterday with the baptismal font but i dont have time to type it so mom-ask sister o's mom cause she told it in her email..we got invited to thanksgiving dinner at a cute family from venezuala and i am so happy cause i love them so much already. okay the other things for my christmas list i want a nice new hairbrush and a little bell for my bike to ding..yep well i gotta run but have a good week all of you and i will tlak to you soon. take care

You Got The News

hey everybody.. sounds like you all got the news i am going to be on bike before i did.. in fact president has said nothing to me so i first found that out from dad! sounds fun! i am SO excited! i know in the keys they only have a bike area so i hope one day i can fulfill my dream of serving in the keys. you all asked for my address and right now its
17660 NW 67th Ave #1614
Miami, FL 33015
but i will be moving next wednesday morning so only send stuff if you know it can arrive by tuesday, otherwise send to mission office and i'll get it at transfers! i have no idea where i'm going to be transferred to. not a clue. landon- happy birthday tomorrow! hope you have a good one.. mom-sister lawrence sends me the ward newsletters monthly but thank you! i got the halloween candy mom thanks and guess what.. it was a good thing you sent it cause sat night we had a ward trunk or treat and it was SOOO fun and i got to give out candy! so that was perfect! thank you! well its been a long weird week with lots going on. last mon i went in the biggest mansion i've ever stepping foot into, it was member who spends summer at their house in Park city and winter here. i have never been in a bigger house in my life and it was just 2 people, kind of a waste but ya i took pics i'll show you all some day. when president told me at my PPI on tuesday that i was going to move back to miami lakes with sister fiala i was shocked cause i was actually really starting to like boca and my trio! i really miss it now but being here is good and its so fun to see the members again. i didnt get to say bye to a lot of them last time i left so i'm happy to be back again, although its wayyy different serving here with hermana fiala than it was with hermana van de graaff. i have been working on having boldness, and using my authority. well last tues this man asked me a question and in order to answer i had to tell him he was wrong, it was probably the scariest thing i've ever done but i know the Lord needed me to do it. this man told us not to come back again and i worried it i ruined the chance to teach him, but i am sure that what i did was what the Lord wanted me to. i got my flu shot and ow i felt for 24 hours like i got punched hard in the arm.. but i'm glad i wont get sick. sister moore and sister lowe had a girl with autism go out with them for 2 days cause this girl wants to serve a mission, soo we had 6 girls living in our tiny apartment but it was soo fun i absolutely loved it and now its weird to just have me and my comp, with no one to go home to at night. excpet mr bear. tracting last week i met this old lady Ana who is diehard catholic and she only spoke spanish soo it was me and her just talking and she was like being so crazy and then like grabbed me and was shaking me and was yelling about how only Moses has seen God.. gosh i like almost peed my pants it was so scary.. we taught this Hatian family but speak english and people from hati do NOT make eye contact with you and that was so awkward like teaching them but they wouldn't look at us no matter what. its weird. oh prayers this week: Reniel, joel, rosa, karina, alberto, and corvalon family. so sister pirotta got transferred friday too and went to boynton so sister denson joined sister lowe and moore til transfers. sister denson called me last night and said our invest alex came to church again and that he left with such a big smile on his face. i love seeing how happy the gospel makes people! on saturday hma fiala had this goal to tlak to 100 people but we only talked to 47.. it was raining that day and she made me pray for the rain to stop so i did and 5 min later it stopped.. i feel so weird doing that. we are all in the north now and its diff cause i used to just serve in the south mostly when i was here. i got to lead music again yesterday in sacrament meeting haha thats like my calling when i'm here then we had GOOD dinner at bishop dennis.. i missed having good sunday dinners when i was in boca. when i packed up i knew i'd only need my stuff for like 1 1/2 week til i had to pack again so i put most my stuff in my big huge suitcase and stuff for the time i'm in ML in the smaller one and its been so nice to just unpack a little and not worry about the other stuff. well happy halloween this weekend, i hope you dont meet any vampires...
i love you and will write you next tuesday (cause its pros monday)
take care and stay warm while i am here sweating and sleeping with the fan on and no sheets or blankets.. too hot...

utahns.. i foiund utah street! yay! there was 1 house on it total!

and the strangest stop sign ever after a long day of tracting..

tay i have been looking for a KY plate forever and finally found one!

Hey Fam

hey fam how are you all doing?? miss you all so much. i am just finishing a voice tape and promise i'll get it in the mail today or tomorrow (prob send to rustler rd) and that will have more details. watch for it by the end of this week! last p day we went ice skating and they had one of those dippin dots machines.. mer it was just like the one in vegas.. it was soo awesome i was so happy. i had a cold this past week but i got meds and took a few naps and i'm all better now. didn't ever get too bad. i just found out we won best car zone of the month so we get free pizza from elder dalling (he's the senior mish who takes cares of cars. poor guy. he's always stressed out.) i am not obessed with boston market, there are a thousand here and they have these sweet potatoes that are SOOOO good try them! we celebrated sister moore's 22 bday this week that was fun.. lots of treats and not enough running.. good thing most my skirts stretch haha, we met these 2 sisters named diana and carolina they are from argentina and i LOVE them, they are so cute like 21 and 25.. they live next door to each other cause diana is married with 2 kids. mer and marci wanna live next door to me someday? :) oh! i truimmed my own hair this week. all by myself. it was scary but needed to be done and i didn't have any $5 coupons and i learned from dad thats the only way to go... we have been tracting soo much this week, countless hours spent knocking doors and getting doors slammed in our faces. we even met the meanest person i've ever talked to EVER but i just remind myself not to take it personal and how sad that these people are saying no to Jesus Christ, not me. and thats even sadder. please pray for nick, mardine and isabella, alex, jeff, vanessa, diana, carolina, tad, joe, and melissa. most those are potentials we are trying to work with, not all invest yet. why did john jospehsen send me some forward.. is he always going to do that? we have been going to this care center for old folks cause a lady in the ward just had bipass.. it is so lively and fun and i like going there... i think of grandpa vern when i do and hope he enjoys his :) i want anyone who likes treat cereal to buy this strawberry frankin berry halloween cereal it is so dang good and makes your milk go strawberry after. a cute lady sister gwynn from our ward is comign to utah soon like maybe next week so i might send some stuff with her. we have had a lot of strange men hug us on the street it really freaks me out cause i hate dont know them..plus males are scary to begin with.. i tried to contact this lady the other day walking down the street and she said she couldn't hear so i started doing sign language ( i can only do a little) but i was saying in sign that i am a missionary and all that...well she turns and yells at me that she wasn't deaf, she just couldn't hear very well cause she was sick. oops. i think that made her mad. but at least she took the card i wanted to give her. we finally had an invest come to church! alex came yesterday (19 yr old from hati) but he was late and left early.. but at least he came! miracle! everyone knows where our church is cause they all go to the church across the street called calvery chapel. its a huge church well it is a huge one in ft laud and a smaller one up here, but they are broadcast on tv and sooo many people go there that they have cops directing traffic. ha. ok well read my email to pres for more spiritual stuff, sorry this was a little goofy but i love you all so much and take care and talk to you soon!!! xoxoxoxxo

A Busy Long Week

hey hows everyone? busy long week in boca raton (did you know that means rats mouth in spanish?) this week can you send my slip with daylin? its no hurry but want to save you guys postage. i bought a 8gig camera card last week dont worry it was on sale so i am happy taking lots of pics with my ghetto camera...i started a license plate collection cause there are like 50 diff florida plates its fun to always watch for ones i dnt have yet. the work is slow and hard here and we only have a few progressing investigators.. I'm going to have Elder Jones type a little bit of my email.

(Alright, this is Elder Jones. Sister Call's hands hurt, so I'm typing this for her. She'll write a longer letter later on today.) On Tuesday, at Zone Conference, President Hale told me about a Temple Square Sister who is coming to my mission on Wednesday or Thursday. She's a Spanish missionary, and I'm not sure what's going to happen, but I think I'm being transferred to be her companion. But I'm not sure yet, I guess you'll find out next week! So Mom, send my mail to the Mission office. A lot of people have been getting the Swine flu, so I'm going to get a shot, and I hope I don't cry. Tell Camille "Happy 8th birthday," And I want pictures from her baptism. Sorry this is short, I promise I'll write a nice love-letter later today. I hope everyone is good. I'll talk to you soon. I love you, soooooooooo much!!!!!

BEST WEEKEND EVER

i was just able to experience one of the greatest weekends of my life.. i am so grateful and will forever remember President Monson announcing a temple here in Ft Lauderdale, Florida, greatest mission in all the land (sorry tay). see email to pres for more of my feelings on the temple :) i tried sending more pics today mom but comp was being too slow. next week ok? prayer list:jose and alihandara, margo, mardine and isabella, capverdes, nick, and valerie. as christmas time will be appraching i wanted to say soomething i really want i want like a small heart gold locket on kind of a longer necklace gold and i wish it could have a small family pic inside.. i know thats a big dream but i want one so bad. so i'm letting you know 3 months early. thanks for the package and yes its the right cord thank you.. how come you always put like 20 stamps then add 75 cents haha that always makes me laugh. last week we got to watch a space shuttle take off it was way sweet I LOVE FLORIDA. i have had to buy and make rice and beans since my body craves them daily now. these americans keep giving us chicken.. ok so this guy jose and his wife alihandra we met last week and i've taught them twice. the first time we taught him, he'd already read the BOM and given it to a firend then his friend got baptized. so we gave him a new one and he read it all already. i took a spanish member over with me and she and i taught them again but they are catholic and set on their ways and it is so hard for me cause i know they know its true but wont do anything about it. they really want me to marry their 25 yr old son and called him when i was there wtih the exchange and made me talk to him on the phone it was probably the most awkward minute of my mission.. i'm like freaked out of boys.. we also tracted into a husb and wife mardine and isabella, they took missinary discussions in hawaii and know ALL about the church and they are letting us teach them again. we are excited! we spend SOOOO much time every day knocking doors and tracting, something i NEVER did in the spanish program. it is so differenct i cant really explain. we get sooo rejected sometimes but i try not to take it personally but it makes me sad when these people dont want to hear the important message we need to tell them. we did exchanges friday and at sister lowe's invest she fed us coffee cake with REAL coffee in it ew ha we couldnt say no... it was grosss.. we also went to the hopsptial to visit a member who just had double bipass surgery and man i almost got sick i am not a fan of hospitals. um i LOVED general conf so so much, i even stayed awake for most of it. we went to the church each session and 0 investigators came... only like 10 members came because everyone here has satalite. my fave talk was Elder Hollands and also the one Sun afternoon about opening boarders of nations (Neilson?) i KNOW that Cuba will open one day, that those prayers will be answered just like the temple one was. i have learned so much recently from my Patriarchal Blessing and am so gratefully that I know we are Heavenly Father's children, he cares about us and wants the best for us. we are focusing on making the FFTL mission become Zion, and I know it will be. Soon. I love each of you with all my heart and am so glad you support me in the greatest work of all time. I pray for you, I hope the best for you, and think of you often. Take care and will talk to you soon.

At dinner picnic with Sister Pirotta and Sister Denson.

Friends in Miami Lake, FL.

First Week in Boca Raton

hellloo everyone how are you? as you know i am now in boca raton west in a trio, its pretty fun. sad to leave miami lakes but glad to be here! my last night in ML this boy john carlos (george's bro) gave me some sweet new kicks. i cant wait to send pics. i have so much stuff... mostly a million clothes.. and filled the whole truck with my stuff. oops. ha. at the end of transfer meeting elder stewart (an AP) we all kneeled in circle around the chapel and he gave a MIGHTY prayer for a temple here. we are hoping prayign and did a 24 hour fast yesterday as a mission that on saturday morning they will announce a temple in southern florida. what a blessing it would be for all the people here, and i know so many people would be able to come from cuba and so i ask you to all pray for that mightly this week as well. also out invests john, jose, juile, margo, maree, valerie, chris, nick, glen, and the capaverdes. my address here is
23054 Post Gardens Way #413
Boca Raton, FL 33433
oh i met elder fredrick he was really nice and told me how he knows my family so that was fun. it was sad leaving elder johnson he became such a good friend the past few transfers. we also live with sisters moore and lowe. sister lowe always talks about marci and she remembers everything about our family and everyones names and stuff. she is really cute and a great missionary! i will get a pic with her soon so you can see! i got english name tags from the office and so i wear both eng and spanish now, but i use my spanish a TON in this area. i have met a lot of mexicans and peru. really cool people but also lots of brazil and i dont speak portugese.. supposedly boca is mega rich but its mostly gated so i cant tell . but everyone drives BMW and mercedes! we have like no good progressing investigators and its really hard.. SO opposite the spanish program. dont know how to handle it. we spend 85% of days tracting different ways, but mostly knocking doors and it is not very much fun. so many people are either catholic diehard or jew or athiest. its really sad like people go to extremes to avoid us or reject us, when every latin i met is SO nice. every night sister hale challenged the mission to say one thing we love about our comp(s) and one thing we learned so we do that every night it brings unity and i like it. they said the first night i snored so loud they went in the other room oops.. i sit in the backseat and i always fall asleep in the car. we have a pretty big area and lots of driving. this girl i was her efy counselor last summer andressa, she is in my ward now and she is super super cute. i still always seek out latins so i can use my spanish and the other day i met this lady from el sal and i told her i LOVE pupusas so she said her aunt was making some inside so i went in and i told her i wanted some so well i got us some free dinner but the lady wasnt interested too bad. i have met people from italy lately and france and hati and jamaca, its so cool to meet them. yesterday in sunday school i had to translate for this guy ricardo but i like dont speak spanish that well and it was super hard.. but he felt the spirit and even though he didnt understand it all he liked it and we are going to teach him! being in a trio is fun but hard cause there are so many opinions or not enough and welll it will be an interesting transfer. i will continue teaching spanish if i can get a member in the ward who speaks spanish (there are lots) and take her on an exchange and my other 2 comps will go teach elsewhere. we have a few apts this week and it should be good. i am craving arroz con frijols and all the comida latina... so i am going to learn to cook or something.. ok well i gotta run but hope all is weell for you all. take care and remember to pray for the temple!! have a good week. con amor,

Transfer

well i made a record of staying in an area 2 transfers and i found out last night i will be transferred again. i thought for sure i was staying since hermana van de graaff is leaving but i was wrong, so i packed up again and will get moved tomorrow. i got an email from president saying i will be apart of the "salt and pepper" so i will be with an english companion, in an english area. i am kind of sad because i wont be able to practice spanish very much and we will be in an english ward. of course there will still be latin peeople there cause lots of english wards are full of latins. but it was just really unexpected but i'm sure it will all turn out just fine. i've been saying bye to people all day and i hate goodbyes... some people are so sweet when they give me little things to remember them. it is so sweet cause i know that some of them have so little. we had just cleaned up our home so nice and i was all set to live there for another 6 weeks. this last week of the transfer was hard and long.. hermana VDG got sick so we stayed home 1 1/2 days and i was bored out of my mind.. but when we went out we had a lot of success and met lots of cool new people, that the new missionaries whoever comes in the area will be lucky to teach. i have been reading the book Our Search For Happiness and i absolutely love love it, its nice and short and i think you should all read it. we are trying to leave everything all set for the new people so they will know what appointments i had set and all their meals and the investigators and what lessons they are on and everything, but i'm sure some will fall through the cracks somewhere and that makes me so sad. i love the people we were working with and i hope they all continue on the path of righteousness and progress towards baptism. everything is going to be so much differenent now but i know i am going where the Lord wants to me be. Hope all is well for each of you, that you are all happy and know how much I love you.

Friends in the Ward

How We Keep Track of our Investigators

Hey There!

hey there everybody.. how are you doing? i am so excited i have a lot more time left than usual to write today..thanks to everyone who sent the shorter emails :) i LOVE getting emails and hearing from you all but remember i only have one hour ! thanks lovies! well we spent the morning moving and when we asked the elders to clean their apartment before we moved in, they certainly had a different idea of the word clean... so we moved and CLEANED this morning. oh also they said they were "packed" however they didnt put 1 thing in suitcases. oh boyy it was kind of funny kind of annoying. oh i saw this costco catalog of PJs i want to get owen for christmas so the number is 61032 they have moose on them and moose slippers can you tell me how much they cost. haha i love those. ok mom those ladies that will be staying at our house LLOOOVVEE you already. ok ok i'll get to that. Dad-i will be sending with them the name and info for a man in my ward who is looking for work in utah. he is cool..tri lingual.. if you can shoot him an email and let him know of anything. thanks for helping out with all the people. ok mom i need my gps cord and a new journal. if you could send those within the next week or so that would be super! last p-day we learned how to make SWWEET tye dye shirts it reminded me of seabrook haha. ok so sad news they wont be getting 2 more elders in miami lakes until the following transfer (nov). so just me and my comp and elder johnson and his comp here next transfer. we went to seminary once this week..its every day at the church from 6-7am. ugh. so early. i was surprised how many kids were there and awake and 6 am! the teacher is awesome though.ok so ana is being a bum..we will probably drop her.. she just never remembers anything we teach her. but we found in our hotspot lots of cool new investigators this week!! really cool! we had to get our oil changed at pep boys the other day and since it takes like 3 hours sister hogge (you know my fave senior missionary employment) took us to costco and she bought me a new big box of easy mac..ah i love her. so we worked our bums off with marianela and lazaro this past week, making sure they were stopping drinking coffee and going over interview questions and preparing for the baptism but they texted us sat saying they couldn't do the interview that night anymore but they would come to church early sunday morning to do it. welll turns out they never showed up to church and we dont know why :( so it was really sad. we have this cute recent convert rosario who is in loove with elder lybertt mom well this week we were teaching her about the temple cause she is going to recieve her endowment on the 19th. we had a relief society activity on satuday and it was soo fun. i got to go with one sweet sister from guatamala and we visited some less actives in the ward. well good thing she spoke some english and i speak some spanish so we could communicate.. haha.. i love love her. ok one day this week we went to teach lazaro he was listening to backstreet boys millenuim.. he speaks ZERO english haha it was soo funny. YESTERDAY I MET DAVID ARCHULETA'S AUNT. she was in the english ward and everyone knows i' m david's future wife so they came and got me to meet her. she was really cute we talked for awhile and i got her email.. she lives in atlanta but was here visiting. ok mom and dad warning: latins give those cheek kisses so be ready for those- yes even you dad. and only one lady speaks eng the other speaks only latin. i only know the spanish lady, i just met the eng one for the first time yesterday. i dont know their names.. but they are so nice and i promise you will love them. i told them not to make any messes in the kitchen. ok so i know the english lady is going to be looking for an apartment but i dont know how long they will want to stay at our house. i think the longest is until conference. i want my spanish lady to cook for you while they are there. so let her if she wants to. they seriously came runnning up to me yesterday at church and gave me the biggest hugs nad kisses and were SO happy!! i'm glad you are so willing in helping me and my friends :) THANKS! i am sure elders baggley and robinson would love to come over and visit while they are there. tell them it is hermano venegas' mom. we all LOVE hermano venagas. i'm sure they will know him. ok well i love love love you all muchismo...have a good week! thanks again for all your help!! xoxoxoxoxo

Margaritas baptism on Labor Day.

Tuesday, September 8, 2009

hey guys how are you all doing? i sent a pic to mom of the baptism we had yesterday of our baptism, my sweet friend Margarita. She used to live with a member family so it was a special day for them and for us. She is what we would call a GOLDEN investigator cause she had already been to church multiple times when we started teaching her and she drank everything up that we taught her and willingly commited to live all the commandments. my favorite food now is arroz con coco... so so good.. i am going ot learn to make it for you all one day! also i have such better taste buds like i can eat fish now without gagging..i went to lunch at Pei Wei this week it made me think of Mom and dad cause i know you guys love that place.. ana did not get baptized, she wasnt quite ready. we went to her house last week and elder johnson was gonna do her interview but we get there and she says she isn't ready for that responsibility yet, so we said ok and like 5 minutes later she asked when the next baptism was. well it was pretty weird so elder johnson did her interview and she just doesnt have her own testimony yet so we are going to keep trying, and hopefdully she'll be ready in a few weeks. Mr Bear says hi and i want to say that i miss my baby blanky and i hope you are keeping it safe. so we had PPI this week and well President Hale is giving us all LaCoste shirts (i think they are for Christmas) and so we got to pick the size and color.. sweet... FYI these are like 75 shirts that the whole mission gets one. haha. also we have good news we are getting more elders here next transfer so there will be 2 sets of elders and me and my comp next transfer. BUT now the elders need the bigger new apt so we are switching them and next mon i am moving in the crappy small one. but its only like 2 blocks from mine. my new address will be:
17660 NW 67 Ave #1614
Miami, FL 33015
so if you still sent something to the one i live in now its ok cause its close. all the elders will be on bike so we had to split the area. i'll stay in car and we will have the largest furthest area. i am happy and healthy! lazaro found work so that is good but bad cause now he has to work on sundays. but marianela should be getting baptized on sunday!! are you guys updating my facebook? we found out yesterday that a girl we gave a chapel tour during the car wash said she'll be baptized! she lives in hollywood and is taught by the english missinoaries there. well i love you all and i am so happy to be here experiencing miracles daily... i feel like i hardly deservce all the blessings i recieve..each of you are one of those blessings. take care. talk to you soon!!! love you.

Hiii

well well sounds like things are good and happy at home. i am doing pretty good here in ML. i bought myself a brita water pitcher this morning because i am going greeen... so for christmas will you send me some new filters for it pretty please? can you get me laura's address in cali so i can send her a birthday card next week? um dad we have this song in the car and it says the word wack in it and every time it comes on i laugh and think of you.. oh last week the Hogge's took us to chipotle dont you guys love that restruant. it was super yummy. i am still running in the morns and have gotten 2 new PR personal record this week but i am still getting a little tummy haha donnnt worry my skirts still fit! so i contact this lady this past week her name is alaina...she spoke english but we went back to visit her the next day and well she told us that she lied about her name and she really goes by chris... anyway i want to tell you more about her but to say the least she is nuts... i'll tell you more about her one day ok? just remind me in the future. i am so happy you have gotten to meet Daylin. She is such a sweetheart and her family treats the missionaries so well. so thank you for being nice to her too! i am kind of stuck in jacob ch 5 but grandma elaine thank you for the good Book of Mormon helping books you sent! They help me understand a lot better! Our recent convert Argentina had us over for lunch a few days ago and she made it really special with a candle and sequince all over the table and she made yummy food and bought us presents. She is so cute i wish you all knew her. she told us we are her first gringo friends. yes miami lamkes is a nice area to serve in. there are lots of gated communities which makes it hard to get in alot but i ususlly call a random number on the system and can sweet talk my way into any community. we had a REALLY good zone conference on friday and i learned so much! i love the Assistants and President and Sister Hale. They are wonderful wonderful people. I lead the music and for the closing song at all mission things we sing "we;ll bring the world his truth" and we say "we are now the Lords missionaries..." anyways it was really special and i loved watching all the missionaries. how inspirational! i talked to sister lowe when she came in and she told me she used to substitute teach at belmar but i only talked to her for a sec. fri night hermana van went to a wedding reception of her trainer from the mission. the trainer married a guy she met here so pres hale took a few missionaries to the reception that knew her. so i had an exchange from 3-10, cute 19 yr old Urania. we had so much fun and i loved showing her what i get to do everyday. we had a fierce finding weekend and tried to do a free car wash on sat morn but well it wasnt very successful haha. next sunday we have baptisms of Ana and margarita! :) really excited! same prayer list as last week. we got lots of new leadership in the ward yesterday it will be a good change and i look forward to still serving here in Miami Lakes North :) love you all! take care of yourselfs. Mer have a happy birthday! i love you! i love you! i love you! have a good week!
